Alan Jackson and strawberry shortcake

Yes, here we are we are - right here in Plant City, Florida, home of the wonderful Strawberry Festival

We parked and set up the RV in the fairground RV park, jumped on the shuttle bus, and off we went. The smell of fried everything was drawing us in. We bought a big basket of fried veggies. Yummm. Then we shared a pot roast sandwich. That was enough to hold us until after the concert to see this guy -

The weather was just beautiful. Cool and comfortable. Mr Jackson put on a great concert. I was a little disappointed that Jimmy Buffett didn't show up to sing 'It's 5 o'clock somewhere' with him, but I may have been the only person who was expecting Jimmy.

After the concert we rambled over to the blue grass tent. SP love bluegrass, while I tolerate it for his sake. (I was afraid the bluegrass would wipe out the Alan Jackson music, which was still bouncing around in my head).

Then, off to the make-your-own strawberry shortcake stand for the grand finale....
...for tonight, anyway. I'm already making a list of unhealthy foods that I want to gobble tomorrow. Fresh cinnamon buns as big as my head and deep fried cheese sticks as long as my arm are just the beginning.

We have tickets for two other concerts - Travis Tritt and Glen Campbell. What are the chances that both of those gentlemen would get sick and cancel? Evidently, very good, because they did. Man, two out of 3 concerts. I can hardly believe it. I am the one who whined last year because we had tickets for concerts every afternoon AND every night and it was JUST TOO MUCH - I wanted to wander around and look at the crafts, blah, blah, blah. So of course SP, taking into account my delicate feelings, only bought tickets for 3 concerts this year and TWO of them canceled. We may or may not go to see the replacements, and may or may not head north early. We'll decide tomorrow. We definitely want to stop off in Sun City, South Carolina to visit our friends who settled there a few years ago after we all retired in the great VZ downsizing of 2003.

I'm not looking forward to the trek north. It appears there has been some snow and cold weather up there. My brother and niece attended the Devs game last Friday and my poor brother said his head was iced on the walk back to the parking lot. (Wear a hat, Dave. I can knit one for you!).
My niece said - 'Did you see Elias hit that Cap guy in the nose, Aunt Gin? There was blood all over the ice!' No, Steph, I must have missed it because I was too busy covering my eyes because the boys were playing like dopes.
Mercifully, SP and I both somehow forgot there was a game last night so were spared seeing the late 3rd period goal by Montreal. We bring the satellite dish with us so we can watch the Devs from almost anywhere.
Sometimes a blessing, sometimes a curse.
Oh well, where was I - oh yes, the weather.
I prefer flip flop weather, and that may be a little bit off in the future in NJ.
I hope the snow is finished, because I have a drive to South Jersey on Saturday for a spinning class.

Time for bed and dreams of fried pickles and fried peanut butter cups and fried strawberries and fried green tomatoes and fried.....
