Starting Out

I hope I'm more consistent with this blog than I was with my cross-country travel journal a few years back.  That lasted about two of the six weeks we were on the road.  Of course I could use the excuse that online access was spotty on the road and non-existent in the National Parks, but that was just an excuse.

So we'll see...

I'm very close to finishing the  foot of sock number two of the latest pair of Big Black Socks ( Socks for Soldiers ).

If I hurry and finish this and two beanies, I can get them in the mail within a week. There will be plenty of knitting time since I'll be spending some time on the road.  We will be making the annual RV repositioning cruise.  We leave Friday to drive the RV from NJ to FL, where it can spend the winter nice and warm while we fly back to shiver in Jersey.
On the way down, we'll stop in NC for our first live glimpse of SP's new grandson

Here's hoping this will force me to sew up the final seams on a little cardigan I knit for him.  It would be nice if the child gets a chance to wear the sweater before he grows
 out of it.

I think my next knitting project will be a nice warm hat - probably red and black - to keep my little head warm on the walks to the Prudential Center to watch the Devils.
My ears were cold last Sunday on the walk back to the parking lot.  The Devils' win made it all worth it, though.  Here's hoping their winning streak will wipe out all memories of the early season struggles.
I already have some red and black fingering, but I want some nice bulky yarn for a hat.
Maybe I'll just use the fingering for now until I find the perfect bulky.  Or - maybe I will spin some!  If I can find some appropriate roving.   And if my newbie spinning skills are up to it.
